Nurses sometimes view patient bathing as a time-consuming, low-priority task, when in reality it's a golden opportunity to incorporate many key principles of care--providing a compassionate touch, taking time for education, meeting emotional needs, assessing skin, and repositioning to name some. Proper bathing practices in adults can also reduce infection rates. Here, Powers and Fortney talk about bed baths for patients.
