At Genesis Healthcare System, the company recognizes that nurses' roles within the entire spectrum of the care delivery team are becoming increasingly critical, as value-based care models link hospital reimbursement to patient outcomes. And, like all progressive organizations, they're continually focused on enhancing the quality of patient outcomes and safety through their approach to nursing. As the largest healthcare provider in Ohio, serving six counties, they provide a higher level of service than what's typically found in a community of their size, including open-heart surgery, trauma care, a level II ICU, neuro-surgery, and comprehensive cancer services. In recent years, one of the most challenging aspects of patient staffing has revolved around acuity. Genesis has achieved acuity-based staffing of its nursing teams over the past 24 months using a commercial software system that they have deployed across the health system.
