In 2012, the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI) was launched to develop international standardized terminology and definitions for texture-modified foods and liquids for individuals with dysphagia. The IDDSI includes a diverse group of professional experts involved with dysphagia patients, including nutrition and dietetics, medical, speech pathology, occupational therapy, nursing, patient safety, food science, and technology from around the world.
